Get all the feels with Owari’s new old-school house cut: “What You’re Made Of”
Oliver Still’s solo project Owari draws inspiration from both the instrumental world as well as the English underground club scene. Since 2019 the project has garnered support from British radio shows like NTS, Rinse FM, and Radio 1. Still has also hosted a year-long residency on Balamii Radio in South London.
‘What You’re Made Of’ pays homage to that old-school underground London club sound, but is also a deeply personal exploration of identity and expression for Still. “The track began as a collage of voice notes from over the years layered over a club-inspired dance beat,” explains Still when talking about the new single. “It draws influence from artists like Tourist, Tom VR, and Fred again.., whose arrangements combine an element of honesty with high-energy dance soundscapes.”
“The track quickly evolved into a self-reflective outlet by incorporating different voice notes from various aspects of my life, embodying the title’s message that our experiences, memories, and emotions shape who we are,” continues Still. “This theme is echoed in the core vocal sample, ‘so many feelings, can’t hide,’ which ties together the track’s emotive and rhythmic core.”
‘What You’re Made Of’ is the final single to be released before Owari drops a 10 track mixtape LP later this year.
