CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — Brad Underwood met with local media ahead of Illinois’ home game against Florida Gulf Coast University on Friday night.
The health of several key players, including Andrej Stojakovic, Mihailo Petrovic, and Brandon Lee, was touched upon briefly by the Illini head coach.
Stojakovic will be a game-time decision in Friday’s contest, while Petrovic and Lee have both been ruled out for the second consecutive game.
“He still hasn’t been through an entire practice,” Underwood said regarding Stojakovic. “We’re monitoring his involvement in practices. We’re trying to find out the perfect amount for that. He’ll be a game-time decision. Everything is reactionary to the workload that he does the day before. We’ll see what a couple days off and some work this week looks like.”
Stojakovic hasn’t been fully involved in practices for around eight weeks. The Cal and Stanford transfer projects to be a starter and key scorer when healthy.
“Mihailo’s still out. Fighting the hamstring,” Underwood mentioned.
Petrovic, a first-year sophomore from Serbia, had been injured for a few weeks before participating in the Florida secret scrimmage. A speedy backcourt scorer and facilitator, the 22-year-old is a much needed piece in the Illinois backcourt.
“Brandon’s got a really good lower sprain in his ankle. Pretty black and blue, so he will not play either,” Underwood noted. Lee suffered an injury in practice before the season-opener against Jackson St. The freshman is another depth piece in the talented Illinois backcourt.
