With the Eagles on a mini-bye, we’re looking at the studs and duds from Week 1.
Philadelphia is 1-0 on the season and looking ahead to a Super Bowl rematch in Kansas City after a thrilling 24-20 win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night at Lincoln Financial Field. The festivities were overshadowed by Jalen Carter’s first-quarter ejection that saw the All-Pro defensive tackle booted from the contest after he was caught on camera spitting on Dallas quarterback Dak Prescott.
Stud –QB Jalen Hurts
The Super Bowl MVP was 19-23 passing for 152 yards (6.6 avg) and a 94.2 rating. Hurts rushed for a team-leading 62 yards on 16 carries with two crucial touchdowns.
Dud– DT Jalen Carter
You can’t make plays if you’re not on the field, and the All-Pro defensive tackle was unavailable for his team after spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott.
Stud–DT Jordan Davis
Davis played 50+ snaps with his best friend, and a former Georgia teammate was disqualified. Davis responded with six tackles, two pressures, one batted pass, and 1 TFL.
Stud– CB Quinyon Mitchell
Philadelphia has decisions to make, and teams will continue to target Adoree Jackson because Quinyon Mitchell is an outstanding player on the left or right side of the field.
Dud –Adoree Jackson
Adoree’ Jackson and Jakorian Bennett struggled in their Philadelphia debuts. Jackson was attacked often, allowing 103 yards across seven targets, and committed a pass interference, according to PFF. Bennett also surrendered a catch on all three of his targets while committing a penalty of his own.
Stud– LB Jihaad Campbell
A three-down linebacker, Campbell made plays against the pass and against the run. Overall, he finished his first NFL start with three tackles and one pass defended.
Stud — Braden Mann
The veteran punter had three outstanding kicks late in the fourth quarter, and each time he prevented a KaVontae Turpin punt return. In all, Mann boomed two punts inside the 20 with a long of 51 yards.
Stud- Zack Baun
The Defensive Player of the Year finalist was all over the field on Thursday and led Philadelphia with nine tackles, one tackle for loss, and one pass defended.
Stud- Jahan Dotson
Dotson is in the final year of his rookie deal and spent time working out with Jalen Hurts this summer. With A.J. Brown nearly shut out, Dotson led the Eagles with three catches for 57 yards (19.7 avg) on three targets.
