The New Orleans Saints are in the middle of a soft rebuild and could end up looking to trade some players away throughout the year, much like they did with Marshon Lattimore last season.
The problem is that trading away Jordan is not just trading away another player. He is a team leader and franchise icon. That’s a move that would shatter the locker room, unless he is the one that is trying to be traded. That doesn’t seem like the case. While it would be a solid value, it probably would not be worth doing until Jordan initiates the conversation. Things almost got to that point last year, but coaching changes made the situation more agreeable for him, even after Jordan agreed to return on a steep pay cut. Jordan has since gone on the record to say he won’t request a trade away from New Orleans.
The 35-year-old defensive end might change his tune if things start to go poorly this year. It’s not secret that he is in the last stretch of his career and he is running out of chances at a ring. If the Saints can move him to a competitor and pick up some draft capital in the process, it would be a win-win, but you have to think Jordan intends on finishing his career in black and gold.
