Baker Mayfield talks all things Tampa Bay Buccaneers and upcoming season
Tampa Bay quarterback Baker Mayfield talks about the upcoming season and his partnership with Popeyes.
Sports Seriously
- Popeyes has partnered with 10 college football players for a new name, image, and likeness (NIL) promotion.
- Fans can vote for their favorite athlete by using the player’s specific promo code for a «12 wings for $12» deal.
- The player with the most code uses will win a catered tailgate party at the end of the season.
Barely a month after Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen teamed up with Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield to promote the company’s new chicken wings lineup, the fried chicken franchise has expanded to include college athletes by giving 10 players a chance to win a wings party at the end of the season.
The promotion helps support name, image and likeness (NIL) profits for college athletes.
Until 2021, players were not permitted to receive compensation for the use of her or his NIL. Florida passed a law changing that, as did some other states, and the NCAA changed its policy.
The promotion also helps move chicken, especially since fans get a discount.
How can fans vote for their favorite player?
Each Popeyes NIL athlete has their own promo code for Popeyes Rewards members to use to get 12 wings for $12. The more codes that are used for a specific player, the higher that player «scores.»

Baker Mayfield touchdowns mean free wings
