LUXXURY drops a glittering low-key disco cut with his new single, “Why”
Blake Robin (aka LUXXURY) has been on our radar ever since he released his Hotel California edit nearly 12 years ago. But it wasn’t until we heard his original music that we truly got hooked.
If you’re not familiar with Blake or his music, here are some fun facts: He lives and works in LA. For the last twenty years or so, he’s been one of the pioneers helping to repopularize and reimagine the sounds of disco and funk. He’s best known for cultivating a sound that combines feel-good 80s electronic with the groovy 70s-era soul and disco. The way Blake describes his music is simple: “I make dance music for adults.”
For his new single, “Why,” he’s traded in his signature rubbery basslines for something more staccato which grabs you up and doesn’t let you go. Then sprinkled in his glittery percussion, and some space-aged synths, and you’ve got yourself a low-key dance floor pleaser. If you needed an excuse to get your dancing shoes on, flip the switch on this one.
