Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist, Dan Klug, curates the silky smooth side of the Jazz Underground
This month, Brooklyn-based one-man-band, Dan Klug, takes over the Jazz Underground with 10 new tracks. Dan demonstrates how silky smooth jazz can be with a selection of new tracks from artists like Kiefer, Yussef Dayes, Ari Hoenig, Butcher Brown, Madlib, Karriem Riggins, and his own project: The Fundamental Sound. From lo-fi cuts to the more improvisational, Dan’s addition adds an effortless flavor to the playlist.
If you like his style, you should also go check out his latest album, “Seconds.” The title refers to the fact that it is The Fundamental Sound’s sophomore release, but also a culinary nod to a “second helping.” Check out the full album on The Fundamental Sound’s Bandcamp page.

If this is your first time listening to the Jazz Underground, here’s what you need to know: The Jazz Underground is a monthly feature where we enlist the musicians and producers who are pushing the boundaries of what jazz means to them. The idea is to change the perception of the music’s rotten public image — a genre that can sometimes be stuck in the past rather than something that is always evolving. Each month we invite a new resident artist to contribute and curate the playlist to reflect what jazz sounds like today.
Have a listen to the playlist below, and if you like what you hear, make sure to follow the Jazz Underground playlist on Spotify.
