Leftpop releases new album inspired by the abundance of the natural world
There’s something special about stumbling onto an album that feels like it fell from the sky — like a gently falling rain. That’s the vibe you get from Leftpop, the solo project of composer, pianist, and producer Harrison Adams.
Harrison’s new album, Rain Enough, takes inspiration from the abundance of the natural world. The record is built around the piano — but it’s not the rigid, classical kind of piano album you might expect. These are loosely structured pieces that wander and breathe. They perform more like quiet conversations with the natural world. One moment you’re wrapped in the warm resonance of a grand piano, the next you’re drifting with the shimmering tones of a Rhodes. It’s cinematic, meditative, and deeply human—like someone tracing melodies in the air with infinite patience.
“I was seeking a sound that felt like the flux of the weather, the fluid motions of nature, the beauty and gentleness of noise,” says Harrison when describing his inspiration while creating the new album. “I found this feeling in the piano — a feeling of connection to the earth’s abundance, and to everything that grows under the rain.”
There is an environmentally conscious side to this album as well. That connection to the earth through music translates to a message to care for this planet. “Love for the earth is there inside all of us,” explains Harrison. “In the knowledge that we live in the shelter of the sky, we drink water that once was rain, we eat growing things, and we are intimately part of this beautiful and mysterious and interconnected web of life. Now this web needs our protection, our care.”

The album was produced by fledgling record label New Memento — a project started in Queens, New York by Harrison and Pranav Mayuram (paper gem). The aim of the new label is to create physical media and zines. To Harrison and Pranav, the label investigates material culture through music. So far this year New Memento have launched a series of beautiful zines featuring hand-drawn art and hand-written thoughts. They host and curate a live performance series of environmental music in New York City, called Environs.
The first run of Rain Enough has been released as a hand-numbered edition of 50 light blue cassette tapes. It includes a yellow quilted leaf pattern jacket, and accompanying text as an insert. Head over to the New Memento Bandcamp page to get a copy of Rain Enough now.
