Phree Direxion’s new single is a beautifully emotive airy house cut
I’m going to be completely honest here, I know pretty much nothing about the ambient electronic producer that goes by the name: Phree Direxion. I think that he (or she?) is based in New York (or at least that’s what their Instagram profile says). I know that they started popping up on our radar around 2024 (check out our December Mixtape). And I know that they create beautifully emotive and airy house music.
But does any of that matter? Is it just about the music? Who cares who’s making it (spoiler alert: I do). But we might never know. So we’ll just have to enjoy the unique flavor of house music Phree is putting out. And their new single (“Elle & Ezra”) is an excellent example of what kind of house that is. It’s light, deep house. It has one foot in the ambient world, that sets you floating, but is anchored to a beat that keeps you grounded. And this particular cut is (I think) a great send off to the weekend; it starts off slow and melodic for the first 2 minutes before launching you into a tribal-inspired deep house groove. It’s hard not to like this track (even if we don’t know who’s making the music).
