Iowa State (1-2) tennis took part in their first home matches of the 2026 season at the Iowa State Tennis Facility, located at Ames Fitness Center South, over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Cyclones team fell to the Shockers, 4-2, and defeated the Tommies 6-1 on Sunday.

In Saturday’s loss to Wichita State, Iowa State picked up a pair of singles victories as North Texas transfer Stanislava Shulzhenko defeated Kristina Kudryavtseva 6-2, 7-5, at the No. 4 singles spot and Alicia Dale defeated Anne Knuettel, 6-1, 6-1, at the No. 6 spot.
The Cyclones opened Sunday with a doubles point victory against the Tommies as No. 34 Mari Paz Alberto Vilar/Stanislava Shulzhenko defeated Emilia Korseth/Carolina Lindahl 6-3, and Gabriella Kellner/Valentina Vargas got the win over Anna Sidorenko/Else Vander Stichele, 6-2.
St. Thomas’s Korseth defeated Iowa State’s Julia Camblor to open the singles at the No. 2 spot, but the rest of the day was all Cyclones.
Dale, playing at the No. 3 position, gave Iowa State a 2-1 advantage with a 6-0, 6-3 victory, Valeska San Martin Ramirez at No. 5 won a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Vander Stichele. Alberto Vilar, No. 45 in the final fall ITA rankings, picked up a 6-3, 6-0 win over Lindahl. Suzanie Pretorius gave the Cyclones a win a the No. 5 spot over Anna Sidorenko, 6-2, 6-4.

Vargas finalized the score in the No. 6 singles spot with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 victory over Ingrid Forsberg.
Iowa State heads west for Friday action at noon against UNLV.
